Surrogacy: Carrying My Brother’s Babies by Tiffany Burke with The Birth Hour

The Birth Hour helps pregnant women achieve an empowering birth experience through sharing authentic birth stories so they are informed going into pregnancy, birth and postpartum. It is not only a place for sharing birth stories but also pregnancy and postpartum struggles, triumphs and resources. Through the podcast, they aim to help you connect on a more personal level with all types of experiences. This a community for addressing the unknowns of giving birth and sharing the way you feel.

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to be a surrogate? All the emotional turmoil you would have to go through not only during pregnancy and childbirth, but afterwards? You would forever have to deal with the fact that even though you are the mother of that child, you will never be his or her 'Mum'?

In this podcast, The Birth Hour talks to Tiffany Burke, who became a surrogate for her brother's twin babies. After Tiffany's sister-in-law had to have a hysterectomy after a postpartum hemorhage with her first birth, Tiffany explains just how compelled she was to become a surragote for them. She openly talks about the extensive planning that was involved for the pregnancy, from her husband's initial concern, her overruling excitement, lawyers and contracts, morning sickness and hospitals, from the first IVF treatments to actually giving birth to two baby boys. It's an uplifting and emotional story to hear, that faces up to the realities of pregnancy, surrogacy, family... and unconditional love!
