Toronto-based artist Callen Schaub invites CBC Arts into his studio to reveal the fascinating ways in which he uses swinging troughs, paint can pendulums, and bicycle parts to create abstract paintings.

For Callen, it’s a process of discovery. Revealing highs and lows, all of his paintings capture a sense of his signature style and creativity with an inventive use of paint and colour. It might not be so easy to recreate his paint splattering process in a rented London apartment… but we are inspired nonetheless! When it comes to colour and paint, there are no rules.
